Aftersales Manager

Van Mossel IOM are pleased to announce a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Aftersales Manager to join our busy team in the Isle of Man.
The Aftersales Manager is responsible for leading all aftersales activities within the dealership, ensuring departments operate efficiently and contribute to the overall objectives of the business. This role focuses on developing the skills of the aftersales team, implementing operating policies, and managing resources to maximise profitability, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop coordinated annual plans with the Aftersales Director, setting targets for profitability, productivity, resource control, and market development, and ensure plans are implemented effectively.
- Monitor department performance continuously, identifying adverse trends and potential issues, and taking timely corrective action.
- Establish department structures, staffing, and job roles, including recruitment, job descriptions, and compliance with employment legislation. Implement control systems to monitor all factors affecting departmental objectives, including key performance standards and ratios, and ensure managers take corrective action where necessary.
- Monitor and manage departmental overheads, ensuring optimal cost absorption and financial efficiency. Implement business operating policies, including pricing, credit limits, customer service standards, warranty and guarantee policies, resource control, supplier liaison, and discounting and payment plans.
- Continuously monitor the market and competitive landscape, identifying threats and opportunities, and adjust departmental plans accordingly.
- Maintain strong relationships with the Manufacturer, negotiating discounts and bonuses, ensuring premises and service standards, and supporting franchise profitability and long-term growth.
- Manage the operation and utilisation of all financial and business management information, including overseeing management accounts, agreeing accounting and business systems, and conducting monthly review meetings.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal stakeholders, including the Dealer Principal, Aftersales Director, Service Manager, Parts Manager, Valet Manager, and Accountant.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with manufacturer staff, including Regional Managers, Commercial, Aftersales, Technical, and Business Management teams.
Person Specification and Experience Required
- Proven experience managing all aspects of aftersales operations, including service, parts, and customer support functions.
- Strong business acumen with experience in budget planning, financial control, and resource management.
- Ability to develop and implement operational plans and monitor performance against targets.
- Strong knowledge of automotive industry standards and manufacturer requirements.
- Experience establishing departmental structures, recruiting staff, and developing teams.
- Ability to analyse market trends and competitor activity to inform strategy and decision-making.
- Proficient in the use of financial and business management systems to monitor performance and support decision-making.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- Excellent organisational skills, able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strategic thinker with problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communicator with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the business and with external stakeholders.
- Proactive, adaptable, and able to respond to changing business needs while maintaining a focus on results.
- Relevant industry qualifications or equivalent experience in automotive aftersales management.
- Experience in dealership operations is highly desirable.
